about the virtual hackathon
What You Need to Know

Participants will be on teams of 2-4 members. Don’t have a team? Don’t worry! We’ll get you connected to one. All technical skills are welcome (e.g. web, data, Java, Python, .NET, QA, UI/UX, and PM to list a few). Each team will have up to eight hours to develop something exciting to demo at the end of the virtual hackathon. The goal is to make a positive difference with your app and to create social good in our communities.

a few helpful tips
Getting Ready

You’ll need to do a few things to get ready to participate. First, organize your virtual hackathon team of 2-4 members. Second, grab your GitHub username since that’s what we’ll use as a repository for your code. Third, have everyone on your team register here. Next, share this fun coding opportunity with your colleagues and friends. Once you’re registered, you’ll receive more information as we get closer to the kickoff date.

Additionally, here are some helpful things to know leading up to the event:

  • The virtual hackathon will be entirely online, although teams may choose to co-locate and take a more hybrid approach.
  • Zoom and Slack will be used as the primary means of communication during the virtual hackathon.
  • The focus of the app is for a social good and will be announced during the week of the virtual hackathon.
  • Data sets, APIs, AWS and GitHub documentation will be provided for participants to use for the event.
